Fun, flexible, and scenic way to explore Glenwood Canyon and Hanging Lake
E-bikes are a popular way to explore the area with ease, taking in the region’s natural beauty without too much effort. Glenwood Springs offers breathtaking scenery on two dedicated paved bike paths. The Glenwood Canyon Recreation Path runs alongside the Colorado River, providing stunning canyon views and an easy ride through one of the state’s most scenic routes. The Rio Grande Trail, follows the Roaring Fork River south from Glenwood Springs, offering more wide open views of the Roaring Fork Valley. E-bike range typically falls between 30–60 miles, depending on rider weight, terrain, elevation gain, assist level, and riding conditions.
We also offer a Glenwood Canyon Bike Shuttle, where you start your ride at the top of the canyon and cruise downhill at your own pace back to our bike shop in Glenwood Springs.
Rent a Bike & Hike Hanging Lake
Many visitors consider biking the best way to experience Hanging Lake, allowing time to stop, explore, and take in the canyon along the way. Looking for a more scenic and flexible way to experience Hanging Lake? Skip the drive and ride your way through Glenwood Canyon before hiking to one of Colorado’s most iconic hikes.
How It Works
- Step 1: Reserve Your Hanging Lake Permit
All visitors must secure a timed-entry permit in advance at VisitGlenwood.com. Permits are required year-round and include parking access if you choose to drive. - Step 2: Rent Your Bike or E-Bike
- Step 3: Ride to the Trailhead
Cruise along the canyon bike path, enjoying dramatic cliff views, river access, and multiple rest areas before arriving at the Hanging Lake trailhead. - Step 4: Hike to Hanging Lake
From the trailhead, it’s a 1.2-mile steep and rewarding hike gaining over 1,000 feet in elevation to reach the lake and waterfalls. - Step 5 : Bike back to our bike shop
Visitors can rent bikes or e-bikes in Glenwood Springs and travel along the Glenwood Canyon Recreation Path, a paved trail that follows the Colorado River directly to the Hanging Lake trailhead. This approach combines two of the region’s best experiences into one seamless adventure.
